As a non-EU/EFTA citizen. To be eligible for the Switzerland work visa, one must have to fulfill these requirements before applying for the work Visa.
- You are a skilled and qualified worker (manager, specialist, educated).
- You have a university degree, several years of work experience, and specific expertise.
- You already have a Job waiting for you.
- The annual quotas for Swiss work visas allow it.

Switzerland Work Visa Quota for 2023
As of January 2023. The below table shows the no of work visas to be issued in 2023.

Types of Switzerland Work Visa and Stay Duration
- Permit L for Short-term Residence
- Permit B for Long term Residence
- Permit C for Permanent Residence
Permit L: The permit L is a short length that is initially issued for one year. You must have a contact letter from your employer in Switzerland and you can not change Job/employer on this permit. You can extend the Visa for another second year. But you cannot stay longer than 24 months with a Permit L.
Permit B: Permit B is also issued for one year but you can renew it every year. It is called an initial residence permit because if you live in Switzerland with a B Permit for 10 continuous years, you became eligible for a permanent residence permit (Permit C).
Permit C: If you have lived in Switzerland for ten continuous years, you can apply for Swiss permanent residence. Permit C allows you to work for any employer, change jobs as you like, and live anywhere in Switzerland you want.
